The organisers behind a Devon town’s beach rugby event look to be aiming for a rematch after a successful showing in 2025.
ConciergeUK, the company behind last year’s Exmouth Beach Rugby Festival, have lodged an application to enable live and recorded music as well as alcohol on 23 and 24 May.
A web page for last year’s event highlighted its success, with the festival culminating in a DJ performance by former England rugby international James Haskell.
On the firm’s website, it states teams from across the UK competed across men’s, women’s, and mixed/family divisions “showcasing exceptional talent and sportsmanship across both beach rugby and beach netball”.
“The energy on the sand was matched by a lively crowd making for an electric festival environment throughout the weekend,” it added.
While the company does not seem to have released updates on the 2026 event on its website, the page for last year’s event stated that planning was already underway for this year.
The application, submitted to East Devon District Council, suggests the event will take place on Exmouth beach to the east of the lifeboat station.
It’s suggesting opening hours of 9am to 10:30pm on both days on its licensing application, and is seeking to be able to play live music indoors from 7:30pm to 10:30pm on the Saturday and from 6pm until 10:30pm on the Sunday.
For recorded music both indoors and outdoors, the organisers are seeking permission to play it from 9am until 7:30pm on both days.
And the event is seeking to serve alcohol on the premises only from 9am until 10:30pm.
Organisers state they are coordinating with local authorities, police, RNLI, and licensing officers to “ensure compliance”, and that there would be “designated areas” for alcohol consumption.
Anyone wishing to comment on the application has until Friday 6 March to do so via the district council.
