Twenty years on from when the first gathering took place, it continues to attract an eclectic display of classic cars and motorcycles, which in previous years has exceeded 200. Some of these are provided by various local clubs such as the BMW Car Club Devon Region, Crash Box & Classic Car Club, Exeter Classic Motorcycle Club, the MX 5 Owners Club and Torbay Old Wheels Club.
One of East Devon’s longest running classic vehicle shows will be welcoming a diverse array of classic cars and motorcycles when the gate opens on Sunday 11th August. The annual Exmouth Classic Vehicle Gathering is being hosted by local members from the Morris Minor Owners Club Devon Branch (MMOC) and the Ford Anglia 105E Owners Club and it takes place on the Imperial Recreation Ground, next to Exmouth’s Rugby Club, from 10am until 4PM.
Unlike a lot of organised car shows, the Exmouth Classic Vehicle Gathering does not require vehicle owners to book their vehicle in advance or have set arrival and departure times. Nor do the organisers impose a specific age-related cut-off date for exhibiting vehicles as they recognise that more recent vehicles are also of interest with many show goers. Instead of a formal entry fee, show visitors can make a voluntary donation in one of the collecting buckets for local charity.

MMOC spokesperson Nickie Tilley of Exmouth said: “It’s a show we love putting on each year because both vehicle exhibitors and show visitors comment on how relaxing and friendly it is, and how interesting the array of vehicles are. Our motto is always ‘bring some sunshine and a smile’!”
Since 2010 the event has raised over £12,000 for their chosen charity, Devon Air Ambulance Trust.
