Held only every two years, Harpford Church's famous FLOWER FESTIVAL is back this weekend. Nestling beside the River Otter on the East Devon Way, this 13th century gem, generally a haven of tranquility, will be buzzing with activity.
Come and marvel at "Kings & Queens" arrayed in flowery finery and fittingly displayed in this stunningly beautiful environment. Admire the floral interpretations and soak up the scent. Open from 10.30am to 5pm daily, admission is free. Added attractions include a quiz, light lunches, cream teas, tombola and our hotbed of horticultural interest - the much-prized plant selection.
Further information:
Originating as seasonal celebrations, Church Flower Festivals evolved into extravagant themed attractions in the 1960's. Some of the history of Harpford's festival will be displayed this year though, in the words of Lewis Carroll's queen: 'It's a poor sort of memory that only works backwards.' So come and help us make tomorrow's memories!
The festival will conclude on the Sunday evening with a "Songs of Praise" service at 6.30pm - do come and join us!
