Honiton’s popular Sweet Honi Choir will once more be
kick-starting its live concert season this May with one
night at the Beehive, for which tickets are on sale now.
The mixed choir and its in-house band - including harp and saxophone -
plans to delight audiences of all ages in what promises to be another sell-
out show of classics spanning six decades of pop and rock, sung to perfection in four-part harmonies.
As always, Sweet Honi Choir will be joined by some very special guests at
the Beehive, which this year will for the first time include the phenomenal
University of Exeter 15 piece a capella group Illuminations.
Sweet Honi Choir now counts 50 singers - a 25% growth in number, mostly
attributed to enthusiastic audience members that came to see one of its live
concerts in East Devon in Spring/Summer last year. The approach of Sweet
Honi Choir’s leader Dan Nicholls is very much ‘the more the merrier’ and
the choir’s weekly Tuesday night rehearsals are always open to newcomers
for a free taster session (7.30-9.30pm, Family Church, Honiton High Street).
In addition to performing familiar contemporary tunes from its popular
existing repertoire – which includes artists ranging from Fleetwood Mac to
Guns N’ Roses and Bruce Springsteen to Adele - Sweet Honi Choir is taking
on some new challenges this year too. Expect new highlights from the
Beatles and Billy Joel, as well as a brand-new Pink Floyd medley arranged
for soprano, alto, tenor and bass by the choir’s leader Dan Nicholls himself.
Tickets are now on sale at the Beehive.
