Dartmoor National Park asks people to be mindful to the risk of wildfires

The National Park is asking people to please take care while you’re out and about in the countryside during the Easter holidays.

Due to the prolonged period of dry weather there is a high wildfire risk on Dartmoor.

Please don’t light BBQs or campfires. Glass, cigarettes, and matches left on the ground can just as easily start a fire so please remember to take rubbish home with you.

Dry grass and gorse on the moors can very quickly catch fire and spread. Wildfires are devastating for the animals, habitats and people who live on the moor.
