Devon Employment Hubs ready to support young people on results day

As thousands of students across Devon receive their A Level and GCSE results, Devon County Council are reminding young people that help is available – whatever their next steps may be.

Devon’s network of Employment Hubs and Youth Hubs offers free, friendly support to anyone aged 16 and over who is exploring options for work, training, or further education. Whether results day brings celebration or uncertainty, the hubs are here to help young people move forward with confidence.

Located in Exeter, Barnstaple, Honiton, Tiverton, Crediton and Newton Abbot, the hubs provide one-to-one guidance on CV writing, interview preparation, career planning, and accessing apprenticeships or training.

Advisors work at each person’s pace and offer ongoing support tailored to individual needs.

Youth Hubs Devon, which is part of the Employment Hub service, are based within the six Employment Hubs across the county. They work to support young people aged 16 to 24 on their journey to training and employment, offering support with CV writing, interview support, job and apprenticeship search, other application support, and more.

But, according to Exeter’s Employment Hub co-ordinator, Sarah Flower, she feels that not enough people know they’re there to help them once they have their exam results.

Sarah said:

“We support a lot of people each year to explore what they want to do next, but understandably we’re not at the forefront of people’s minds on results days.  That’s why we want to remind people that we’re here, and to offer them an invite to come and see us and let us help them.

“Our experts will work one-to-one with them to understand their aspirations and to work out with them what their options are for their next steps. That could be further education or training, or routes into employment through apprenticeships for example.

“We also support young people with special educational needs and disabilities to help identify opportunities, such as supported internships and apprenticeships.”

The hubs are funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and delivered in partnership with local councils.
