DTCCA urges local farm businesses to apply for ADOPT grant funding

The Devon and Torbay Combined County Authority (DTCCA) is calling on local farm businesses to apply for funding via the Accelerating Development of Practices and Technologies (ADOPT) Fund.

With up to £3 million in grants available, the ADOPT fund supports the adoption of innovative technologies and practices that can enhance productivity, sustainability, and resilience across the agricultural sector.  The fund also promotes knowledge sharing and on-farm trials to accelerate progress in the industry.

Devon and Torbay, home to around 30% of the UK’s dairy industry, is a nationally recognised hub for agriculture and food production. The region’s expertise in Agri-Tech, regenerative farming, and low carbon production offers a strong foundation for improving national competitiveness, biodiversity, food security and resilience – while also creating high quality careers and business growth opportunities locally.

With the sector growing by 3.6% year on year in Gross Value Added (GVA), the DTCCA believes that now is the time for farms to seize this opportunity and invest in future-facing solutions.

Projects eligible for funding must focus on one or more of the following areas:

  • Improving productivity and profitability
  • Enhancing resilience to climate change and market volatility
  • Reducing emissions from farming practices

Cllr David Thomas, Chair of the DTCCA, said:

“The ADOPT grant present a valuable opportunity to drive innovation and sustainability in our region’s farming sector. Devon and Torbay’s agricultural community is rich in expertise and ambition, and this fund can help unlock new opportunities for growth, resilience, and environment stewardship. I strongly encourage our local farm businesses to apply and be part of shaping the future of farming.”
