Devon Partnership NHS Trust has received over £5 million to support its decarbonisation efforts. This funding will be used for two major energy projects aimed at enhancing sustainability and reducing energy costs.
The grants will enable the installation of 2,200 solar panels, saving nearly £250,000 annually, and replacing outdated boilers, reducing CO2 emissions by over 100 tonnes per year.
£3 million from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero will fund solar panel schemes at various sites, including Langdon Hospital in Dawlish and Torbay Hospital. An additional £2.1 million from Salix will decommission fossil fuel boilers at Wonford House HQ in Exeter, paving the way for greener energy sources.
Mark Barriball, deputy director of estates and facilities at DPT, expressed excitement about the funding, noting its significant impact on sustainability and cost savings that can be redirected into patient care.
This initiative marks a significant step towards a more sustainable future for DPT, benefiting both the environment and patient care.
