The 1st Clyst Heath Rainbows visited RNLI Exmouth yesterday to receive their RNLI certificates for completing the RNLI Water Safety Passport and to celebrate completing their “Wellies for a Week” challenge raising over £1000 for the charity.
The 1st Clyst Heath Rainbows visited RNLI Exmouth yesterday to receive their RNLI certificates for completing the RNLI Water Safety Passport and to celebrate completing their “Wellies for a Week” challenge raising over £1000 for the charity.
Beth McGill, leader of the Rainbows said:
“This term our Rainbows have been working hard on their RNLI badge. We’ve learned what charity is, what the RNLI do and how to stay safe around (or in) the water. We also talked about how to call 999 for help and even learned our addresses off by heart.”
The group decided they would like to raise funds for the RNLI, supporting RNLI volunteer, Dave Hancock who is running in the London Marathon on 21 April. www.justgiving.com/Dave-Hancock4
McGill explained: “Because of the iconic RNLI crew welly boots, we challenged our group to wear their “Wellies for a Week” for anything and everything they did.”
The passports were presented by Dave Hancock and the group were given a tour of Exmouth RNLI lifeboat station, the last night of their school term.
Dave Hancock said: “Thank you to the Rainbows for making such a generous donation to the RNLI through my London Marathon fundraising page. I should confirm now that I will not be running the marathon in Wellies.”
