A Late night attack in Exmouth at the weekend has resulted in a man loosing his life
The attack happened shortly after midnight on Saturday, December 13, on Church Street, Exmouth. Emergency services attended the scene and the victim, a 29-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Devon and Cornwall Police said the man later died in hospital on Tuesday, December 16. His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
A 22-year-old man, Joseph Jones, of Exmouth Road in Lympstone, has been arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm with intent under Section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act.
Jones appeared at Exeter Magistrates’ Court on Monday, December 15, where he was released on conditional bail. He is due to appear at Exeter Crown Court on Friday, January 16.
Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Chris Lithgow said: “Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends at this sad time. The investigation into the incident on Church Street, Exmouth, remains ongoing.”
