Tenants are being reminded that the City Council does not cold call asking for information and does not ask any companies to do unless by prior arrangement.
One tenant in Exeter was recently asked for information and pictures of their property by a caller who said they were from acting on behalf of Exeter City Council.
When details of the tenant’s passport were asked for the call was ended.
The Council only contacts tenants by pre-arranged appointment.
Anyone in any doubt should also check by calling the Council’s housing team.
