With warmer days upon us, and to ensure residents and visitors can enjoy our beautiful coastline safely, East Devon District Council is reminding everyone of the seasonal dog exclusions in place on beaches between 1 May and 30 September.
The following beach areas are subject to dog restrictions during this period:
Sidmouth
Dogs are not permitted on the beach between Jacobs Ladder and the access ramp opposite Sidmouth Sailing and Sea Angling Club.
Please also ensure dogs are kept on a lead:
· On the stepped area in front of the Jacobs Ladder beach huts.
· Along the esplanade adjacent to the beach.
Seaton
Dogs are not permitted on the beach between Castle Hill and Trevelyan Road.
Dogs must be kept on a lead from The Chine, including West Walk, to Trevelyan Road.
Budleigh Salterton
Dogs are not permitted on the beach between South Parade and Lime Kiln car park.
Dogs must be kept on a lead along the esplanade adjacent to the beach.
Beer
Dogs are not permitted from the point below the Sea Hill beach access path to the edge of the cliffs in the west.
However, dogs on leads are allowed access to the beach café, located within the exclusion area.
Exmouth
Dogs are not permitted on the beach between the Octagon café and the second groyne at Orcombe Point.
Dogs must be kept on a lead:
· Along the esplanade adjacent to the beach.
· In Beach Gardens, Pavilion Grounds and Queen’s Drive Space.
The council’s Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs) are designed to help prevent anti-social behaviour and enable all beachgoers to enjoy their visit. Enforcement officers may issue fixed penalty notices for non-compliance.
