East Devon District Council has reissued an edited recording of the Strategic Planning Committee meeting on Tuesday 3 March 2026. The original recording was temporarily removed because it contained unsubstantiated allegations about the conduct of a senior officer.
As with any organisation, the Council has a responsibility to ensure that material published on our channels is not defamatory. While it is entirely acceptable for individuals to disagree with Council decisions, it is not acceptable for officers or elected members to be subject to personal or verbal attacks in a public forum.
In line with our duty of care to staff, an edited version of the recording has now been reinstated with the inappropriate comments removed. We have also responded to the letter received from David Reed MP regarding this matter. In addition, the allegations raised are being investigated in accordance with the Council’s formal complaints procedure.
East Devon District Council remains committed to transparency, respectful debate, and ensuring that all those who work for or engage with the Council are treated with fairness and respect.
