Exeter Sea Cadets help keep the city tidy with successful litter pick

Exeter Sea Cadets have been out in force to help keep the city clean, taking part in a successful litter pick as part of the national Great British Spring Clean campaign.

The litter pick took place in Exeter and saw cadets volunteer their time to collect discarded rubbish from local streets and public spaces, helping to improve the local environment and encourage pride in the city.

The Great British Spring Clean is the UK’s biggest mass‑action environmental campaign, led by the charity Keep Britain Tidy and supported locally by Exeter City Council, which encourages residents, community groups and organisations to take practical action to reduce litter and protect wildlife.

Petty Officer John Davies, Officer in Charge of Exeter Sea Cadets, said:

“Taking part in the litter pick was a great way for us to put our values into action. Activities like this help young people understand the importance of looking after their community and the environment, while showing that small actions can make a real difference. Supporting initiatives like the Great British Spring Clean is a great way for our cadets to serve Exeter and lead by example.”

Exeter Sea Cadets regularly take part in community activities alongside their nautical and leadership training, helping young people build confidence, teamwork and a sense of responsibility.

Exeter City Council has encouraged community groups across the city to get involved in the Great British Spring Clean during March, highlighting the positive impact local action can have in keeping neighbourhoods clean and welcoming for everyone.
