Wales & West Utilities is progressing well with its work in upgrading the gas pipes in the Buddle Lane area of Exeter.
It has been agreed with Exeter City Council that the following traffic management will be in place until the end of the project:
- Rolling traffic lights on Buddle Lane (until 2 February)
- A road closure between Buddle Lane and the junction of Isleworth Road, whilst three-way traffic lights will be present on Exwick Road, Redhills and Okehampton Road (2 – 27 February)
- A closure on Redhills between the junctions of Buddle Lane and Well Park Close (23 February – 20 March)
The £253,000 project, which started last October, is vital to ensuring gas continues to flow safely and reliably to homes and businesses across the area - helping to keep people warm for decades to come. Providing everything goes to plan, the project will be complete during March.
Wales & West Utilities' Roxanne Whittaker is managing this gas pipe upgrade work and said:

“We know that working in areas like this is not ideal, but it is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future.
“While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of this community. Whether it’s heating your home, making the family dinner or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.
“This work is essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport green gases in the future.”
