A man has been jailed for over two years after searches revealed a quantity of drugs and cash located at his address in Exmouth.
Jonathan Eddowes, aged 57 and of Belvedere Road, Exmouth, appeared at Exeter Crown Court on Friday 25 April and was sentenced to 26 months in prison. The court also ordered a forfeiture of £2000, which was located at his property following police searches.
In August 2023, officers from the Exmouth Neighbourhood Policing Team conducted a search of Eddowes’ property on Belvedere Road, Exmouth. As a result, 3.5kg of cannabis was located as well as a quantity of cocaine hidden in various locations around the premises.
Inspector Mat Helm from the Exmouth and Ottery St Mary Neighbourhood Policing Team said:
“Drugs blight our community. Whatever peoples’ individual views on drugs are, there is no doubt that the supply and consumption of drugs has a negative impact on neighbours and businesses who have to put up with anti-social behaviour and violence which often come with the drug trade.
“From cultivation through to the consumption stage, the whole process of drugs involves highly exploited and vulnerable people at every stage with proceeds normally finding their back into national and international organised crime.
“We welcome the court outcome last week as our officers continue to robustly tackle those who effect the quality of life of our communities.
“If you have any information or concerns about drugs in your area then we want to hear from you. You can contact us on non-emergency number 101, 999 in emergencies, or report via our website.”
