Final section of Exeter’s Buddle Lane gas upgrade project to begin

Next week Wales & West Utilities will start the final phase of its project to upgrade the gas pipes in the Buddle Lane area of Exeter.

The gas emergency and pipeline service continues to work closely with Exeter City Council and has agreed a closure on Redhills, between the junctions of Buddle Lane and Well Park Close from 2 - 27 March. This will bring the project to a close.

The £253,000 project, which started last October, is vital to ensuring gas continues to flow safely and reliably to homes and businesses across the area - helping to keep people warm for decades to come.

Wales & West Utilities' Roxanne Whittaker is managing this gas pipe upgrade work and said:

“We are making good progress with this project and are on track to finish it on time.

“We know that working in areas like this is not ideal, but this work is essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport green gases in the future.

“While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of this community. Whether it’s heating your home, making the family dinner or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it."
