Four council-run venues named among top 10% on Tripadvisor

Exeter City Council is proud to operate a number of outstanding cultural and heritage venues and is delighted that four of them are currently recognised as Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award winners, placing them among the top 10% of destinations worldwide.

The visitor favourites are:

  • Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (RAMM)
  • Exeter’s Underground Passages
  • Exeter Red Coat Guided Tours
  • Exeter Corn Exchange

Earlier this year, RAMM was also shortlisted for the Museums + Heritage Awards’ Visitor Accessibility Award, alongside major institutions such as the Wellcome Collection and the Royal Collection Trust - a reflection of its inclusive approach to public engagement.

Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards are based entirely on authentic visitor reviews over the past 12 months. Each of these venues has received consistent praise for visitor satisfaction, engagement and quality of experience.

Exeter Quay – one of the city's most iconic waterfront areas – also received a 2025 award, along with several other local businesses and facilities, further showcasing the city’s strong and diverse visitor offer.

These accolades strongly reflect the aims of Exeter City Council’s Corporate Plan 2025 - 2028, aligning with its strategic priorities across the Local Economy, People, and Sustainable Environment.

They highlight Exeter’s growing reputation as a city with a vibrant cultural and tourism offer, reinforcing efforts to build a resilient and thriving local economy.

The awards also support the Council’s focus on increasing participation in leisure and cultural activities, contributing to improved wellbeing and stronger community engagement.

At the same time, the recognition of venues like RAMM and the Underground Passages showcases the city’s commitment to sustainable tourism and the preservation of Exeter’s unique heritage, helping to protect and promote assets that are both environmentally and culturally significant.

The Council is proud to see the hard work of its teams recognised globally. It also extends thanks to the thousands of visitors who shared their experiences and helped shine a light on what Exeter has to offer.
