Severe weather conditions, including heavy snowfall, left almost 1,000 homes in Aylesbeare and the surrounding areas without electricity for 15.5 hours.
The power outage, which occurred on Thursday from 8:59am, also affected DevonAir’s 94.6FM transmitter, temporarily interrupting local radio services during the disruption.
The adverse weather caused widespread challenges, including fallen power lines and road blockages, delaying repair efforts. Power was successfully restored to all affected households and the transmitter by 12.30am Friday morning.
Residents whose power outages exceeded 12 hours are entitled to claim compensation under regulatory guidelines. Impacted households can contact their electricity provider or visit www.nationalgrid.co.uk to submit a claim.
DevonAir has confirmed that its 94.6FM transmitter is now fully operational, ensuring uninterrupted service for listeners in the region.
