New MyBinApp helps Exeter residents recycle

Exeter residents can now make use of a new app designed to cut the confusion around what can and can’t be recycled on supermarket shelves – and be in with a chance of winning £500 of vouchers

MyBinApp allows shoppers to scan a product’s barcode using their smartphone to see if it should be recycled in the green bin, sent to Energy from Waste in the black bin, or taken to a recycling site.

The information given by the app is taken from data provided by the City Council, enabling environmentally conscious shoppers to make informed choices about the products they bring into their homes.

Residents who sign up for a free account will be in with a chance of winning £500 of Amazon shopping or supermarket vouchers in time for Christmas shopping!

The competition period begins on 13 October, and residents will have 40 days to ensure they are in the top 10% of registered scanners by the date of the prize draw on 23 November. Those in the top 10% will be entered automatically for the draw.

Download MyBinApp from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and register for free to begin scanning.
