East Devon District Council are excited to announce that Carter Avenue play area in Exmouth and Land of Canaan play area in Ottery St Mary are now open!
These upgraded spaces are perfect for families and will be a great spot for children to enjoy during the summer and school holidays. Both sites feature a range of exciting new equipment designed to encourage active, outdoor fun for children of all ages.
They know the grass in the new parks looks a little patchy at the moment, but it will grow through the safety surfacing over time. This type of surface is designed to be gentle on the environment and helps with drainage after wet weather — so it’s doing a useful job even if it doesn’t look perfect just yet!
If we’d laid turf under all the matting, it would have meant fewer play features overall. By focusing the budget on equipment, we’ve been able to create a more fun and exciting space for local children.
Thanks for your patience while the grass settles in!
