The Otterton Reindeer Run, held in the eponymous East Devon village last Saturday, has raised £3,000 for community good causes thanks to an event that continues to grow in size and appeal
The event, now in its 21st year since inception, includes the 10-K Reindeer Run (open to those 16+ years old) and the 3-K Junior Reindeer Calf Fun Run (open to all ages). The Reindeer Run is another in a series of enjoyable annual fundraising activities for the village with medals for all junior finishers and prizes for the best-dressed entries along with drinks (and jelly babies for the youngsters as they went around the course).
Approximately 300 people entered in either the 10-K run or the 3-K which took them along parts of the Otter River, the Coastal Path and back through Otterton. Runners came from close as the home just down from the start line and to as far away as Taunton, Yeovil and Dartmoor!

“This is a village-created event that attracts individuals, families and groups of friends who either meet up (and sometimes catch up) and then run through our beautiful landscape,” Cllr. Ian Simpson, who chairs the event, said. “We have been truly surprised and honoured by the competitor feedback we have already had which consistently praises the family-friendly nature of the event and the proactive help given by event marshals! We have a fantastic and passionate team that puts the event together and its clear the pride they take in doing results in people coming and having a great time.”
