Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a report of threats and abuse in Ottery St Mary.
It was reported that just after midday on Wednesday 2 July, in the beer garden of The London Inn, a suspect approached a man and threatened to burn his house down.
He is then said to have held a glass to his face and made a further threat.
A local man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress, and threatening to damage or destroy a property.
He has been released on police bail.
