Your views are needed to help the city council deliver services in Exeter

Residents are being asked to give their views on life in Exeter as part the council’s ongoing commitment to improving engagement and insight.

The annual Residents’ Survey will explore perceptions of living in Exeter and the services provided by the city council.

Questions will examine satisfaction levels with the local area - including community identity and safety - and satisfaction levels with the council, including how it runs services, provides value for money, its responsiveness and how it keeps residents informed.

An independent research company will conduct the survey on behalf of the council, from Wednesday 9 July until Wednesday 20 August.

Questions will be asked both in person and by telephone, and 1,100 residents aged 16-plus across the 13 wards in Exeter will take part to provide a representative sample.

All other residents will also be able to take part by completing an online survey on the council’s website.

Council Leader Phil Bialyk said: “It is very important that residents have their say on how they feel about living in Exeter, their experiences of the city and what they think of the services provided by the council.

“The feedback we receive helps us to set priorities and provides valuable evidence about what is most important to the communities we serve.”

Understanding the views of residents is a key element of assessing the effectiveness of a council and its services.

Bindu Arjoon, Exeter City Council’s Chief Executive, said: “We need to hear from residents as part of our ongoing commitment to understanding their views and improving our services.

“Last year’s survey provided important insights which assisted in our service delivery. This year’s survey will build on those valuable insights and will highlight both strengths and areas for improvement for us to consider.

“So please do take part if you have a few minutes to spare - your feedback is vital in shaping how we deliver services and engage with our residents.”

The results of the survey will be released by the Council later in the year.
