Businesses invited to ‘Join the Fight Against Business Crime’ with free 12-month UKPAC membership

Businesses across the region are being urged to join the fight against business crime as part of a major new initiative led by UK Partners Against Crime (UKPAC) and funded by Police and Crime Commissioner Alison Hernandez.

The campaign offers 12 months of free membership to UKPAC’s industry leading crime reporting platform and dedicated Crime Hub, a secure platform where business owners can report incidents, share intelligence, and access real-time alerts to help protect their staff, customers, and communities. Members also benefit from regular updates on crime trends, offenders, watch lists and safety advice.

The initiative aims to strengthen collaboration between local businesses, police, and community safety partners, tackling issues such as shoplifting, antisocial behaviour, and theft.

Commissioner Hernandez said: “A key priority in my Police and Crime plan is theft which is why I have ensured a concerted effort is being made to tackle shoplifting through more visible policing and funding crime reporting system UKPAC.

“It has proved to be a quicker and easier way for traders to report any crime in just a few minutes via an app or online portal and share intelligence among the business community. UKPAC analysts can then build robust cases ready for prosecution.

“I encourage everyone to sign up the scheme because it really is making a difference across Devon and Cornwall.”

Through the Crime Hub, members can quickly log incidents, receive intelligence updates from police and partners, and help identify prolific offenders. The system is already helping to improve information-sharing between local authorities, Business Improvement Districts (BIDs), Business Crime Reduction Partnerships (BCRPs) and Devon and Cornwall Police.

Gareth Lewis, Chair of UKPAC added: “This campaign is about empowerment and prevention. By joining UKPAC, businesses don’t just get access to a reporting system, they become part of a movement working together to make our towns, high streets and rural areas safer.

“UKPAC compile the data and crimes reported by each of our members, to gain effective prosecution against repeat offenders. In 2025 alone, UKPAC and our members have helped police secure 3,438  weeks of sentencing for offenders, which equates to 66 years prison time secured. This is a great opportunity for businesses in Devon and Cornwall, and we know from experience the more members we have, the more difference we can make in the fight against business crime.”

The free membership is open to all sectors, including retail, hospitality, and small businesses located in Devon and Cornwall. Sign-ups can be completed in minutes through the UKPAC website. Businesses can register for their free 12-month UKPAC membership at https://uk-pac.com/freemembership/
