Community groups invited to apply for City Grant funding

Local community groups are being invited to apply for the latest round of Exeter City Grants funding.

The scheme supports events, festivals, and projects that promote community participation. The funding can also support one-off equipment purchases or repairs.

Applications are now open until Tuesday 13 October for the second round of funding for the 2025/26 cycle.

Grants of up to £2,500 are available for each applicant, from a total budget of £60,000. After the first round of funding, the remaining budget is £40,310.

Due to limited availability of funding and high demand, there is no guarantee that applicants will receive the full funding amount applied for.

The focus for City Grants in this cycle is on the following priority neighbourhoods:

  • Exwick
  • Redhills
  • St Thomas
  • St David’s City Centre
  • Newtown
  • Mincinglake
  • Beacon Heath
  • Whipton
  • Wonford
  • Countess Wear

Applicants need to have at least 20% match funding in place, demonstrate that there is community support for their project and that it meets one of the key priority themes to be considered by the Grants Panel.

Councillor Liz Pole, Lead Councillor with responsibility for communities said: “Our City Grants help local groups turn their ideas into activities and projects, bringing people together and strengthening our communities.

“Community groups, both small and large, are often doing fantastic work with limited resources. This Exeter City Council grant funding can be a game-changer - whether helping to put on an event, run a community project, or pay for essential equipment or repairs.

“I particularly encourage groups in our priority neighbourhoods to take a look at the funding available and get their applications in before the 13 October round two deadline. We want to support more people to get involved in their local communities and make a positive difference where they live.”
