Discount supermarket Lidl is hoping to check out the views of residents in Devon’s newest town ahead of possible plans for a store there.

The grocer wants to hear from residents in Cranbrook about proposals for a new supermarket and four retail/leisure units on land off London Road.
This could be welcomed by Cranbrook residents, many of whom have long complained about the slow delivery of services in the town.
Its first supermarket Morrisons, only opened in 2024 even though some homes had been occupied for more than a decade.
Plans are still ongoing for parts of the town centre, while updated proposals for a leisure and wellbeing centre were released in May this year.
The location of the potential Lidl  store will be within the so-called Treasbeare area, which East Devon District Council believes could accommodate around 1,000 homes.
It would be the second of four expansion areas of Cranbrook, and was just given planning permission last month.
Besides homes, it will include five permanent pitches for gypsies and travellers, up to 10 hectares of employment land, a primary school and a sports hub with full-sized artificial grass and turf pitches.
Other community facilities will include a neighbourhood centre, play areas, allotments and large areas of green space.
This second sports hub, together with the existing facility at Ingrams, will serve the whole town of Cranbrook, in this case providing important facilities for a range of sports including rugby, football and tennis.
Lidl said its potential store would create around 40 jobs and be built to the “latest specifications”, including air source heat pumps, heat recovery systems, and rooftop solar panels.
Its car park would have space for around 118 vehicles and electric vehicle charging would also be installed.
Lidl said it wanted to hear the views of residents via its online survey at cranbrook.newsite.lidl.co.uk.
