Devon & Cornwall Police passive drugs dog Skye joined specialist handler PC Steve Waters in an operation on 19 June. They were supported by the Special Constabulary, Neighbourhood Support Team, Licensing Team and Teignbridge Council ASB Officer.
Police officers from the Ashburton & Chudleigh Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out a Pubs Against Drugs (PAD) operation in both towns last week.
Devon & Cornwall Police Passive Drugs Dog Skye took part in the operation on Friday 19 June, along with specialist handler PC Steve Waters. They were joined by members of the Special Constabulary, the Neighbourhood Support Team, licensing team and Teignbridge District Council’s Antisocial Behaviour Officer.
During the checks, which took place during Neighbourhood Policing Week of Action, officers conducted positive stop searches in Chudleigh, resulting in a quantity of suspected illegal drugs being seized.
Several licensed premises were visited by the team and officers engaged with bar staff and customers to raise awareness of the importance of keeping venues drug free.
Neighbourhood Beat Manager PC Jo Gilbrook explained: “Pubs Against Drugs operations help disrupt drug use and dealing, keeping our licensed venues and communities safer. Drug misuse can contribute to anti-social behaviour and violence, so proactive operations like these play an important role in protecting our local communities.”
Neighbourhood Policing Week of Action ran from Monday 15 to Friday 19 June and is a national initiative to celebrate community police officers and Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) for their dedication and hard work throughout the year.
