It’s the start of a month-long celebration of arts, culture and creativity, as June Boom brings an exciting programme of events to venues across the city.
Now in its second year, this joint initiative between InExeter, Exeter Culture and Visit Exeter offers residents a vast array of events to enjoy during June.
From live music and comedy to street markets and festivals, there is something for everyone.
Here are just some of the fantastic events that people can enjoy from the start of June:
- Exeter Comedy Festival - Citywide (3–7 June)
The iconic Comedy Festival returns from Wednesday with tickets still available for a range of emerging talent, sketch comedy and innovative new work happening at multiple venues across the city. - Exeter Respect Festival - Belmont Park (6–7 June)
The South West’s longest-running festival for diversity and inclusion. Expect pulsating music, interactive workshops, global cuisine and family fun. This year’s headline acts include Avtar, leading a Punjabi dance extravaganza, and Crina, set to ignite the stage with vibrant Romanian rhythms - Exeter City of Literature Book Market - Exeter Quay (7 June)
Devon’s literary highlight returns to Exeter Quay, uniting indie booksellers and wordsmiths for a one-day book bonanza. Since 2021, the Book Market has been the heartbeat of Exeter’s creative calendar. - Colour Exhibition – RAMM (May 31 – 6 September)
An exhibition bringing together more than 150 objects spanning art, science, nature and cultural histories. Works by Hokusai, Kandinsky, Bridget Riley and Andy Warhol are on display alongside examples of decorative ceramics. - First Thursdays – Gandy Street (June 4)
This brand-new initiative will bring late-night shopping, live entertainment, street food and cocktails to the heart of the city on the first Thursday of every month starting from June.
There will also be world-renowned dance performances, like the Balletboyz at Exeter Northcott, international artist Bruce Asbestos's exhibition at Exeter Phoenix, the Creative Street Festival on Magdalen Road Summer Fair and much more.
As always, residents can enjoy a vast number of performances, exhibitions and events taking place at the city’s favourite entertainment venues including Exeter Phoenix, The Northcott Theatre and The Corn Exchange.
