Matford Brook Academy in Exeter has expanded its facilities for the new school year, with additional accommodation providing more space for teaching, creative learning, sport and play.
The expanded accommodation is now being used by pupils and includes a larger nursery, a new assembly hall and specialist spaces for subjects including design technology, photography and drama.
The new purpose-built spaces give the growing school more room for high-quality teaching, practical and creative learning, and places for pupils to learn and socialise.
The school, part of the Ted Wragg Trust, continues to have full access to the excellent outdoor sports facilities it has used over the past two years, alongside additional play and social spaces for primary and secondary pupils.
The new facilities support Matford Brook’s growing school community, giving pupils and staff more space to learn, teach and take part in school life. The expansion follows a successful first Ofsted inspection, with the school meeting the expected standard in every area assessed and across all education phases, with inspectors highlighting a strong sense of belonging, positive relationships and an ambitious curriculum.
Emily Simpson-Horne, headteacher at Matford Brook Academy, said:
“We are delighted to see our pupils enjoying our expanded accommodation, giving our growing school more space for teaching, learning, creativity and play. The new facilities are a great addition to our school and provide dedicated spaces for our youngest pupils as well as our primary and secondary students.
“As a school, we continue to provide a broad curriculum from sports to photography and drama, alongside our growing personal development offer to support our pupils to be the author of their own story and develop into confident, kind and community-minded young people. We are very grateful to our pupils, families and staff for their continued support, and it has been lovely to welcome new pupils to the school this September.”
