Jungle Path renamed in honour of Club legend Dick Pym

Exeter City FC have announced the acquisition by the Club of the land known by supporters as the ‘Jungle Path’ at St James Park from Network Rail.

This acquisition has been made possible by the generosity of the Club’s former Chairman Richard Pym. The Trust would also like to thank Club Director Andrew Rothwell for his hard work in leading negotiations with Network Rail.

Richard’s kind donation to the Club continues a long association between the Club and the Pym family which extends more than a century. Richard’s grandfather Dick Pym made over 200 appearances for the Grecians either side of the Great War, including the Club’s historic tour of South America. He went on to play for Bolton Wanderers where he made more than 300 appearances and won the FA Cup on three occasions as well as becoming the first former Grecian to represent England at international level.

The Club are proud to confirm in recognition of Richard’s donation and to commemorate his family’s historic association with the club, this approach to the Big Bank will be renamed Dick Pym Way.

The Club, in association with the Trust, will be working with Paul Farley at the Exeter City Museum to create an appropriate and fitting information board at this key approach to the Stadium with a formal unveiling and dedication ceremony early in the 2026/27 League Two Season.
