In local cricket on Saturday it was the penultimate round of matches with most of the promotion and relegation places being decided.

In the Premier Division Exmouth lost at Plympton by 90 runs and remain in a midtable position and Sidmouth were also beaten at Bradninch and Kentisbeare falling 71 runs short in their chase of 237.

In the A Division Budleigh Saltertons poor run continued with a home 115 run defeat by league champions Exeter and could be relegated with Clyst St George who narrowly lost at Plymouth by 14 runs.

In the B Division Cullompton stay in 4th position after a 6 wicket victory at bottom of the league Seaton while in the C Division East Ottery St Mary lost any chance of promotion when they were narrowly beaten at Heathcoat Second Eleven by just 13 runs.

Finally Topsham St James lost to second placed Budleigh Salterton Second Eleven by 64 runs at the University Sports Ground but are safe for another season in Division D East as are Upottery who were thumped by 9 wickets at Clyst Hydon.
