Exmouth Town fell at the first hurdle in the FA Cup when they were narrowly beaten 2-1 at Western League outfit Buckland Athletic.

In local football on Saturday Exmouth Town had a bad start to the new season when they were knocked out of the FA cup at Western Premier League side Buckland Athletic by 2 goals to 1.

Having taken an early lead with a well worked goal from Ben Steer in the 4 minute the host equalised after 28 minutes and took the lead just before half time.

Try as they might after the break Town could find a goal to force a reply and must now concentrate on their first ever Southern League One South game next Saturday at Melksham Town.

In the Peninsula League East Crediton Utd were held to a 2 all draw by Newton Abbot Spurs at Lord's Meadow on Friday night while Teignmouth beat Plymouth Marjons 3-2 away.

On Saturday Axminster Town had an easy 5-2 victory over Torrington AFC at Tigers Way but Cullompton went down by 3 goals to 1 at Speeds Meadow to visiting Bovey Tracey.
