In local rugby on Saturday Exmouth Cockels continued their winning start in the regional one south west with a confidence win over visiting Royal Wotton Basset by 34 points to 21 at Imperial road after trailing 14-10 early on while in South Devon Brixham had to settle for a 17 points all draw with Barnstaple at Anstey park after a half time lead .
In regional one south west Topsham followed up their big win last week with another convincing 45-22 victory at new opponents Winscombe with Okehampton bouncing back from their defeat at the Bonfire field with a confidence 49-21 win over visiting North Petherton at Oaklands .Tiverton continued their good start with a 32-22 victory at Cornish side Wadebridge camels while Crediton had a 39-33 win away to Cullompton at Stratford park .
In the Western counties west division Paignton thrashed visiting Redruth second fifteen 54-15 at Queens park and in division two Devon after last week's abandoned game Withycombe got their season underway with a narrow 16-14 victory at Plymouth Argaum, Honiton had a massive 62-5 win over Plymouth side Tamar Saracens at Allhallows, Exeter Saracens beat near neighbours Exmouth Quins 55-17 at Exhibition way and Torquay Athletic had a hug 87-0 runaway victory over North Devon visitors South Molten at the recreation ground and look clear favourites for promotion this season.
