In local Rugby on Saturday in the South West Premier League Exmouth Cockles threw away a 13 points lead in the last few minutes to lose 31-30 at Old Centralians and return home with just a losing bonus while table toppers Exeter University also narrowly lost at second placed Old Redcliffians 21-19.

There was better news in the South West One Division for struggling Sidmouth who had a 24 points to 10 victory over visiting Newent at the Blackmore Ground but fellow devonians Crediton went down 17 - 3 at Bridgwater Albion.

There were no local games in the Western Counties Division but in the Devon and Cornwall League Topsham retained their top spot with a easier than expected 55 points to nil victory over North Tawton at the Bonfire Field but Withycombe narrowly lost to inform Cullompton by 10 points to 7 at Raleigh Park.
