Results from the start of the local rugby season.
Saturday saw the start of our local rugby season and in the South West One Division Exmouth Cockels got of to a good start beating newly promoted neighbours Sidmouth by 30 points to 19 at the Blackmore Ground in a game they controlled from the Kick Off but Brixham were narrowly beaten in Cornwall by Launceston 38-31 but did pick up a loosing bonus point.
In Regional 2 South West Topsham thrashed relegated Okehampton 51-7 at the Bonfire Field, Teignmouth got of to a bad start going down 37-3 to new boys Winscombe at Bitton Park, Tiverton convincingly beat visiting Newton Abbot 36-0 at Bolham Road, Crediton had a narrow 29-23 victory in Cornwall against Truro while Cullompton were beaten 28-20 at Somerset side Wellington.
In the Counties Western West Division Paignton beat visiting Bideford 31- 21 at Queens Park.
In the Counties Devon Division Torquay Athletic had an easy victory over Exmouth Quins by 43 points to 3 at Imperial Road, Withycombes game with Dartmouth at Raleigh Park was abandoned after 12 minutes due to an injury to a visiting player, Exeter Saracens lost in a low scoring game 9-3 at Plymouth side Tamar Saracens, South Molton beat Topsham Second Team 29-21 at Unicorn Park and Honiton lost 29-21 at Devonport Services Reserves.
Finally in 3 North and East New Cross lost 10-5 at Crediton Quins while Exeter Athletics game at Okehampton Seconds was postponed.
