In local rugby on Saturday in the Regional One South West league leaders Exmouth Cockels were beaten in a close run game 19-15 at Wiltshire side Royal Wootton Basset but Sidmouth won 44-31 against struggling Ivybridge at the Blackmore Ground.
In Regional Two South West Topsham continued they unbeaten record with a huge 70 points to 5 victory over visiting Winscombe at the Bonfire Field but second placed Tiverton lost ground with a surprising 23-22 defeat by Wadebridge Camels at Bolham Road. Okehampton kept up the chase with a narrow 33-27 win at North Petherton and Crediton remain fourth easily beaten visitors Cullompton by 50 points to 19 at Exhibition Way while bottom of the league Newton Abbot lost 32-29 at Somerset side Wellington and Teignmouth were beaten 32-20 in Cornwall by Truro.
In the Counties 1 Western West Paignton won 29-14 in Cornwall against Redruth Second Fifteen while in Counties 2 Devon league leaders Torquay Athletic beat South Moulton 48-0 at Unicorn Park, Exeter Saracens had a convincing 56-5 victory over Exmouth Quins at Imperial Road while Honiton also won away with their visit to Tamar Saracens by 27-14 with Withycombe enjoying a home walkover over Plymouth Argaum who failed to raise a side.
Finally in Counties 3 Devon North and East New Cross enjoyed victory by 51-15 at Cullompton at Stratford Park and Exeter Engineer's beat Newton Abbot Quins by 46-34 at Rackerhayes with North Tawton winning 35-7 over Tiverton Quins at Taw Meadow.
