Exmouth Town battled to a point against Worcester Raiders, drawing 0-0 at the County Sports Ground.
It was a much-needed clean sheet for Town, who had chances to win the game but a draw was a fair reflection on the afternoon.
The hosts started off the game stronger, forcing an early corner which led to Syrus Warren-Paul having an uncontested header from six yards out, which he put over the bar.
Raiders continued to put good football together, with a Stan Asomugha long-shot fired over the bar.
Town would continue to be resilient defensively, and would do a good job in stopping Worcester from creating any clear cut chances.
Exmouth would start to grow into the game, and create a great chance on the break, as Ben Steer slipped the ball across to Tom Chastey, whose touch allowed Charlie Emery to get out and make a strong save.
The visitors had the momentum, and James Watts-Barciela would come close to his first Town goal, as he beat two players before firing a shot wide from range.
Worcester would start the second half stronger, but once again would struggle to create clear chances against Town’s backline.
They would test Matt Wonnacott with long-range strikes, with both efforts saved comfortably.
A lovely passing move made the hosts best chance of the game, as Asomugha drifted into the box and fired a shot off, with Josh Cann making an excellent block.
Exmouth were mightily unlucky to not get ahead as a corner dropped into the path of Ethan Slater, but his shot was cleared off the line by Sam Kelly.
Both sides would push for a winner, with both defences on top of proceedings, not allowing either side to create anything of note.
There was some frustrating news for Tom Bath, who re-injured his hamstring stretching for a ball, with the substitute being forced off in added time.
In the 95th minute, there would be one more chance as a Iestyn Harris throw-in would cause chaos in the Raiders box, as Slater had a shot blocked before Mike Landricombe swung the ball over.
All in all, it was a fair result and a welcome one for Exmouth, who will welcome Paulton Rovers to the Search4Local Stadium next Saturday.
