The Teignmouth and Shaldon Fireworks Display at Point Beach is on Saturday 1st November and could be in jeopardy

The Teignmouth and Shaldon Fireworks Display at Point Beach is on Saturday 1st November and could be in jeopardy unless all beach hut owners in the Safety Exclusion Zone (please see map below) agree to vacate the beach huts from 6:30pm till 7:35pm.

etters have been sent from Teignmouth Town Council to all 14 occupants but, despite an 10th October deadline, most have yet to respond.

They were required to complete a short form and confirm that no one would be using the huts at the allotted time.

The company due to conduct the display has set a Safety Exclusion Zone, which includes the beach huts, which must be observed or they will not proceed with the event.

If you do have a beach hut within the Safety Exclusion Zone, please can you contact Teignmouth Town Council before Friday 31st October.

Mayor Cllr Cate Williams said: ‘The display is hugely popular with families across the district thanks to its spectacular setting on Point Beach. But safety must come first and although a physical search of the area will be conducted on the night, we really need written confirmation that owners agree to stay away. Without that we can’t say hand on heart that everything has been done as it should be. What a pity it would be if an event that attracts thousands of people had to be abandoned because of the actions of just a handful. So please hut owners, respond immediately and let the fireworks display go ahead.’
