English Riviera Airshow 2024 Community Team recognised at a Civic Reception

The Community Team who were responsible for organising the 2024 English Riviera Airshow have been recognised for their dedication and hard work in ensuring the smooth running of Torbay’s biggest event.

In total 63 people from Torbay Council, and community organisations were given a special appreciation certificate in recognition of their invaluable contributions.

Some of the Community Team came together at a Civic Reception, organised by Cllr Jacqueline Thomas and hosted by Cllr Hannah Stevens, The Worshipful The Mayor of Torbay, at the Riviera International Centre in Torquay.

Those recognised were involved in various aspects of putting on the English Riviera Airshow, from organising the in the air and on the ground displays, health and safety, entertainment and sponsorship to programme selling, charity donation collections, marketing and promotion and running the event villages. Their combined efforts ignited community spirits to deliver a superb spectacular, ensuring that the English Riviera Airshow remains an annual event the region can be proud of.

Cllr Jacqueline Thomas, Cabinet Member for Tourism, Culture & Events and Corporate Services, Torbay Council, said; “The 2024 event was a tremendous success thanks to the Community Team. Their combined efforts which equate to hundreds of hours, saw record crowds head to Paignton over the weekend.

“The date has been announced for the 2025 event, and we’re ready to start the process again with our Community Team to bring our residents and visitors an even bigger and better event. Anyone who wants to be part of the team should get in touch with us and register their interest now.”

Cllr Hannah Stevens, The Worshipful The Mayor of Torbay, said; “The 2024 English Riviera Airshow was an incredible community effort. The work put in by the Community Team leading up to and over the event weekend not only helped in the seamless execution of the event, but also in creating a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for all.

“I’m honoured to be able to recognise them and personally thank them with a special Civic Reception.”
