
Emergency services attended Higher Warberry Road at 12:43pm yesterday after reports of a serious incident involving a white bin lorry and a crew member. A local man in his 20s was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin are being supported.
Devon & Cornwall Police are appealing for information following a fatal road traffic collision that occurred in Torquay on Tuesday, 27 May 2025.
Emergency services were called to Higher Warberry Road at approximately 12:43pm after reports of a serious incident involving a white bin lorry and a member of the vehicle’s crew. Despite the best efforts of emergency responders, a local man in his 20s was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
The incident has prompted a joint investigation by the police and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), which has been notified as part of standard procedure when workplace-related incidents occur.
Officers are now urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has relevant dashcam footage from the area at the time to come forward. Any information, no matter how minor it may seem, could assist with the ongoing investigation.
