Torbay Councils contractors are continuing to work in challenging conditions caused by the highway collapse in Sands Road, Paignton.
As previously stated, a large deep void has appeared under the road surface at the junction with Belle Vue Road.
The road has been closed and the work area fenced off for safety reasons while repairs take place.
The closure is estimated to be needed for a further four weeks, and is being kept under review.
This is to allow the Councils contractor CORMAC and a specialist team to work on a defective drainage pipe at a depth of 4.5m (15ft).
The pipe will have to be repaired before the void is filled in and the road reinstated.
Repair work has been complicated by difficult ground conditions and uncertainty over the stability of the area.
The void is around 3m (10ft) deep and reaches around 8m (26ft) under the road.
A diversion is in place and the harbour can be accessed by alternative routes.
The Councils Events Team are mindful of the forthcoming Airshow and are working with the organisers on contingency plans.
