Torbay have opened a Community Grant Fund of £200,000 to help local community groups. The fund will provide a helping hand to groups who work with local communities in some of Torbay’s most deprived areas.
The fund will give up to £40,000 to help local groups and the people they support. Higher amounts may be available where proposals offer outstanding benefits for local communities. The fund does not include Torquay where significant funding is already in place.
The Council are looking for projects with long term benefits for local people with the most need. The money will be given to projects that match their plans for the community and local growth. The Torbay Community and Corporate Plan supports community and people, pride in place and economic growth within Torbay. The Grant Fund will provide a great boost to deliver the ambitions of the plan in these areas.
Councillor Hayley Tranter, Cabinet Member for Adult and Community Services, Public Health and Inequalities said; “Torbay Council supports charity, voluntary and community sector organisations and recognises the significant benefits they provide for our local communities.
“Our Community Grant Fund has been agreed to bring forward real benefits for local people, providing much needed support for local groups and organisations in Torbay.
“I’d encourage people to visit our webpages to find out more and to take advantage of this vital fund.”
