Cranbrook welcomed the community to celebrate the official launch of its brand-new Outdoor Gym at Cranbrook Country Park — a vibrant day of fitness, fun joined by residents and international sporting talent on Sunday, 1 June 2025.

The day kicked off with a free calisthenics workshop, welcoming residents of all ages to explore the new equipment under the guidance of professional coaches. From curious beginners to experienced fitness enthusiasts, participants were inspired to embrace active, healthy living in the great outdoors.

A highlight of the event was the International Calisthenics Competition, which brought elite athletes from across the UK and abroad to Cranbrook. Spectators enjoyed an awe-inspiring display of strength, control, and creativity — showcasing the transformative power of movement and dedication.

Alongside the competition, families and residents took part in a range of community fitness challenges, filling the park with energy and excitement. The day reflected Cranbrook’s growing identity as a town that champions healthy, connected living.

Councillor Les Bayliss, Chairman of Cranbrook Town Council, said “With our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles in the town, we are proud to have created one of the finest outdoor gyms in the Southwest. The new Outdoor Gym adds another exciting way for people to stay active, healthy and engaged. It was fantastic to see local families engaging and outstanding athletes visiting our town to take part in the event. A big thank you to Vigilantes Street Workout, led by a Cranbrook resident, for their exceptional work in delivering the free workshop and hosting the international competition.”

Ben Rogers, Head Coach of Vigilantes Street Workout, added “Seeing athletes from across the UK and overseas come together in Cranbrook was incredible. Our mission is to grow a supportive calisthenics community, and events like this are a major step forward. We are proud to be part of a town that is embracing movement and creating opportunities for everyone to thrive. Thank you to all who took part.”

Located within the nationally award-winning Cranbrook Country Park, the new Outdoor Gym adds to a suite of top-tier community facilities including the Skatepark, Pump Track, Play Parks, and Ingrams Sports Pitches — making Cranbrook one of Devon’s most vibrant destinations for active living and family recreation.

The Outdoor Gym was funded through developer contributions secured via a Section 106 agreement, supporting the delivery of high-quality community infrastructure as Cranbrook continues to grow.
