East Devon District Council seeks your views

East Devon District Council would like you to share your views on the draft pavement licensing policy.

A consultation is now open on a draft Pavement Licensing Policy that will guide how businesses can place tables, chairs and other furniture on public highways for food and drink service.

This follows the permanent transfer of licensing powers from Devon County Council to district councils under the Levelling Up and Regeneration Act 2023. The draft policy has been developed by the Devon Licensing Officers Group to ensure a fair and consistent approach across Devon and Cornwall.

It proposes to streamline the current arrangements introduced during the Covid pandemic through the Business and Planning Act 2020, with temporary licences limited in duration to 30 September 2024.
