Exmouth Town Council is proud to be celebrating the 10th anniversary of its Tourist Information Service, a vital resource for both visitors and residents alike. Over the past decade, the service has grown significantly, starting with a humble summer house on The Strand to now operating from a permanent premises in the heart of Exmouth.
What began as a seasonal initiative in 2014 has since evolved into a year-round operation, providing invaluable information on local attractions, events, and activities. The service is run by a dedicated team of 15 volunteers, who have been instrumental in its success. Their commitment and enthusiasm have helped the Tourist Information Service become a key pillar in the town's support for tourism and community engagement.
A Decade of Growth and Achievement
The origins of the service are a testament to the Council's dedication to promoting Exmouth as a destination. Ten years ago, the Council identified a need for a central point where visitors could receive information and guidance. Lead by Councillor Bill Nash, a summer house was set up on The Strand, and since then, the service has flourished, expanding its offerings and securing a permanent premises that reflects its importance to the town.
The Tourist Information Service has not only provided assistance to countless visitors but also played a role in promoting local businesses, attractions, and events, fostering a strong connection between Exmouth and its surrounding areas.
A Heartfelt Thank You to Volunteers
At the heart of this operation are the 15 incredible volunteers who generously give their time and effort to ensure the success of the service. Their local knowledge, friendliness, and passion for Exmouth have made a significant impact on the town’s tourism experience.
The Council celebrated this milestone at an event at A La Ronde to thank the volunteers and reflect on the service’s journey.
