New Zealand Black Ferns welcomed to Exeter during Guildhall civic reception

The Lord Mayor of Exeter Cllr Anne Jobson formally welcomed the New Zealand Black Ferns to Exeter with a civic reception at the city's historic Guildhall.

The team are in action at Exeter's Sandy Park on Sunday 31 August for a Women's Rugby World Cup clash against Japan, kick-off 2pm.

The players were served a special Devon cream tea during the reception, with strict instructions on the importance of putting the cream on first! They were also entertained by Exeter Morris Dancers.

The Women’s Rugby World Cup started on 22 August, with Exeter one of eight host cities.

Sandy Park is hosting seven games, including two quarter-finals. As a result, the city has welcomed players and fans from a variety of countries as Exeter is put on the international stage.
