East Devon District Council’s (EDDC) Recycling App has become the most used local authority app in the country, with over 60,000 residents using it to stay informed about waste collections and recycling guidance. Designed to make recycling easier for households, the app offers several convenient features that help residents manage their collections efficiently.
The app allows users to set personalised alerts, ensuring they never forget their collection days. It also provides detailed information on what can and cannot be recycled, helping to reduce confusion and improve recycling rates across the district.
In addition to these features, the EDDC Recycling Team sends real-time notifications to keep users updated on any changes to collection schedules, especially during periods of disruption such as bad weather or bank holidays. This ensures that residents always have the latest information at their fingertips.
Councillor Geoff Jung, Portfolio Holder for Coast, Country, and Environment, praised the app’s success: “We’re thrilled to see so many residents using the East Devon App. It’s a great tool for helping people recycle more effectively and stay on top of their collection days. By working together, we can continue to improve our recycling rates and reduce waste in East Devon.”
