The Sidmouth Neighbourhood Police Team are delighted that a life-saving defibrillator has been donated and is now installed outside Sidmouth Police Station.
This life-saving piece of equipment is available for public use, providing essential support in cardiac emergencies.
PC Tom Driver said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to Jay's Aim Charity and Bupa for their incredible fundraising efforts. Having a defibrillator in such a central location in Sidmouth can make all the difference in saving lives when every second counts. We are proud to be part of a community that values the importance of this life-saving technology and are excited to see this installed.”
Sidmouth Police Station is located on Temple Street and the defibrillator is located by the side door close to the visitor parking spaces. The equipment is available thanks to efforts by Bupa fundraisers and Jay’s Aim.
Alice Reid, Practice Manager at Sidmouth Bupa Dental Care, explained: “We had 20 Bupa practices taking part who had to row and cycle 40 miles in one day to raise funds. We involved the community here in Sidmouth who all kindly donated, sponsored and helped get us the mileage. We carried out cake sales, raffles, donations, all sorts.
“I want to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who contributed to our charity event, raising crucial funds for defibrillators across the southwest through Jay’s Aim. This incredible achievement was a true team effort, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the passion, dedication, and motivation of my amazing colleagues at Bupa Dental Care. Their commitment to giving back is truly inspiring.
She added: “And to our wonderful Sidmouth community, thank you for your generosity and support. You’ve all helped make a real difference, and we’re incredibly grateful to be making a difference together.”
Jay’s Aim charity is named in memory of a 28-year-old man who died following an undiagnosed, inherited heart condition. The Devon charity has delivered CPR & AED training to more than 20,000 young people and funded 228 defibrillators.
