People have a chance to give their views on improvements to three play areas in Exeter.
The City Council is carrying out focussed public engagements in three specific parts of the city and is keen to get the views of local families, children and the wider community.
It is hoped the views of local people will help shape the redesigned spaces at the following sites:
- Heavitree Pleasure Ground play area
- Harrington Lane play area
- Horseguards play area
Hyper-local public engagements are being carried out over a six-week period, closing on Friday 24 July.
The City Council will be looking to deliver at least two of the three site refurbishments this year, with one early next Spring.
Local people will be asked to complete a short survey.
Cllr Duncan Wood, Lead Councillor with responsibility for Leisure Services and Healthy Living, said: “We’re keen to ensure the three refurbishments meet the needs of local families, children and the wider community.
“We want these to be places where children of all ages can have as much fun as possible, explore, be active, and enjoy spending time outdoors with family and friends.
“The survey is part of our engagement process and will help us understand how the play area is currently used, what works well, and what could be improved. Your feedback will directly inform the design brief for the upgraded play space, ensuring it provides inclusive, engaging, and high-quality play opportunities for all ages.”
As part of the, the City Council aims to:
- Understand who currently uses the play areasand how often
- Identifyany barriers to use, including accessibility, safety, or lack of provision
- Gather ideas on the types of play and equipment that should be included
- Ensure the space is welcoming, inclusive, and suitable for a wide range of users
Results from the survey will be reviewed and used to shape the design of the new play areas before design proposals are developed, reflecting local priorities and best practice in play design.
